UNStudio, the Dutch architectural design studio, is composed of highly skilled individuals from all over the worldwith backgrounds and technical training in numerous fields. Specialising in architecture, urban development andinfrastructural projects, the wholly collaborative nature of the practice provides the basis for its long-term goals thatare intended to define and guide the quality of the work. This book takes a look beneath the surface of the hugelysuccessful practice and examines the workings of the integral approach and a non-hierarchical, complex, generativeand integral design process that takes on board the numerous and varied aspects of a project including: time, use,circulation, construction, materials, systems, cost as well environmental and client needs. Emerging from this study is anarchitectural imagination where utility and philosophy combine to extend and deepen how we experience reality.

Volume # 29 of "IT Revolution in Architecture", "Digital van Berkel" is an invaluable book that scans with an attentive eye the full body of works of UNStudio. The author repeatedly interrogates van Berkel, offering to the reader approachable avenues for learning and understanding. One of the most interesting office today, develops trough its exciting realizations the issue of digital sustainability as the key of a mutable approach, constantly open at a flux of a flexible informations. Andrea Sollazzo (Napoli, 1978), architect, worked in Rome, Paris, and in the Netherlands at "OMA" and "123dv/Lionglie". Specializing in Building Technologies at TU Delft, Sollazzo lives and works in Rotterdam. "IT Revolution in Architecture" is a book series initiated by Birkhäuser in 1999 and now published by Edilstampa, ANCE Rome. Themes of social and architectural transformation as reflected in the oeuvre of UNStudio The Austrian lighting company Zumtobel Group commissioned the international architecture practice UNStudio to create its annual report for 2021/2022. Founded in 1988 by Ben van Berkel and Caroline Bos, UNStudio is one of the leading Dutch architecture offices in the world, and aims at designing healthy, sustainable cities that have an impact on our planet and a positive effect on people. As a collaboration with graphic design duo Bloemendaal & Dekkers, this year's publication presents a design reflection on the theme of transformation. Using illustrations drawn from the work of UNStudio over the past 30 years, the book presents a visual investigation into the creative process, and demonstrates how ideas and concepts are developed by the practice into physical form. Through a similar thought process, the book itself is designed to undergo its own metamorphosis.

Unstudio in Motion
From the outset UNStudio has been fascinated with the concept of motion in architecture in its broadest sense: physical motion, imaginative motion and conceptual motion. This interest is not only physically evidenced by many of our projects to date, but has equally remained a constant in its theoretical output. UNStudio takes motion as one of numerous factors which act as incentive and motivation for further research and invention in our work and in its approach to the practice of architecture. UNStudio in Motion therefore presents how, through continuous re-evaluation, UNStudios work has evolved over the past 10 years.
