The chapter "Die Verfolgung der Juden" (pp. 179-228), begins with a survey of antisemitism through the ages, especially in Germany, and chronicles the history of the Jewish communities in Mühlheim and Dietesheim (near Offenbach in Hesse) from the 19th century. Pp. 189-203 trace Nazi anti-Jewish measures and their application in the two towns, ending in deportation in September 1942. Pp. 203-217 contain extracts from documents and newspaper articles, interviews with eyewitnesses, and lists of the Jewish inhabitants and their fate in the Holocaust. Pp. 219-228 contain facsimiles of documents and photographs.
