Handwritten and signed letter dated 26 Aug. 1854, and addressed to "My Dear Sir," believed to be Edgar Bowring. Brown writes the following. "I learn that a Pamphlet containing our Decimal proceedings will be ready about Tuesday. I have desired copies to be sent to you. Pray send one to you Father with the enclosed letter. Ever yours respectfully. Wm Brown." The "Father" was Sir John Bowring. The item probably relates to the book, "The decimal system in numbers" by John Bowring.
