William Edward Oswell Collection of about 50 Letters Written During a Fourteen Year Period to Mr. William Morris Colles, His Agent
The letters deal mainly with matters relating to the publication of Oswell's book by Heinemann, details of his father's life, and requesting meetings on various subjects. Many of the letters deal with problems in illustrations by Joseph Wolf. The book was one of the first illustrated by Wolf and the letters give some insight into some of the artist's problems in drawing African animals for which he later became famous.
