The collection contains 3 letters. One of the letters was written by Thomas Marshall to his brother in 1845 while Marshall was living in Tennessee. The second letter was written in 1862 by William Brown, who served in Company D, 34th Iowa Infantry. The third letter, from Captain Andrew Johnston to Louisa Marshall, describes Isaac Marshall's wounding and capture in April, 1864.
