German and Chinese Contributions to Digitalization

Digitalization is one of the biggest challenges of the 21st Century. In Germany, the concept of Industry 4.0 goes back to the high-tech strategy of the Federal Government and describes the interlocking of industrial production with the latest information and communication technology. In the intelligent factory, intelligent and networked machines will operate, decide and optimize largely autonomously in cooperation with humans. For China, the German concept Industry 4.0 is a strategic source of inspiration. Among other things, it was a model for the current Chinese innovation and industrial policy strategy Made in China 2025. This book is looking into different aspects of digitalization. Part...

Informatics in Control, Automation and Robotics

Session 2 includes 110 papers selected from 2011 3rd International Asia Conference on Informatics in Control, Automation and Robotics (CAR 2011), held on December 24-25, 2011, Shenzhen, China. As we all know, the ever growing technology in robotics and automation will help build a better human society. This session will provide a unique opportunity for the academic and industrial communities to address new challenges, share solutions, and discuss research directions for the future. Robotics research emphasizes intelligence and adaptability to cope with unstructured environments. Automation research emphasizes efficiency, productivity, quality, and reliability, focusing on systems that operate autonomously. The main focus of this session is on the autonomous acquisition of semantic information in intelligent robots and systems, as well as the use of semantic knowledge to guide further acquisition of information.

Cuproptosis and Tumor

Cuproptosis is a new type of cell death induced by copper that differs from other types of programmed cell death. Copper ions were discovered to bind to lipoacyl proteins during the tricarboxylic acid (TCA) cycle, resulting in abnormal lipoacyl protein oligomerization. Moreover, copper ions can also reduce the level of iron-sulfur cluster proteins, thereby causing the toxic stress response in proteins and ultimately leading to cell death. So far, cuproptosis‘s role in tumors, as well as the underlying mechanisms, are still unclear and require further investigation. Recent research suggests that inducing programmed death of abnormal cells could be one of the future methods for disease treatment and prevention. It can slow the progression of the disease and, eventually, cure it by causing tumor cell cuproptosis. Currently, the drug delivery system has received a lot of attention. It is also a novel idea to treat tumors by developing a drug delivery system to induce abnormal cell cuproptosis, which will effectively reduce treatment complications and improve patients’ life quality.

Boundless Winds of Empire

For more than two hundred years after its establishment in 1392, the Chosŏn dynasty of Korea enjoyed generally peaceful and stable relations with neighboring Ming China, which dwarfed it in size, population, and power. This remarkably long period of sustained peace was not an inevitable consequence of Chinese cultural and political ascendancy. In this book, Sixiang Wang demonstrates how Chosŏn political actors strategically deployed cultural practices, values, and narratives to carve out a place for Korea within the Ming imperial order. Boundless Winds of Empire is a cultural history of diplomacy that traces Chosŏn’s rhetorical and ritual engagement with China. Chosŏn drew on classical...

Proceedings of the 2023 3rd International Conference on Public Management and Intelligent Society (PMIS 2023)

This is an open access book. The 3rd International Conference on Public Management and Intelligent Society(PMIS 2023) will be held on March 10-12, 2023 in Shanghai, China. PMIS 2021 and PMIS 2022 have been successfully held in the last 2 years, providing an academic exchange platform for participants from all over the world. The conference discussed the latest topics in the field of public management and intelligent society, and the wonderful presentations were given by invited distinguished speakers and praised by scholars. Building an intelligent society and studying public management have always been a leading and hot issue. PMIS 2023 will focus on public management in an intelligent society, technological innovation in an intelligent society and advanced intelligent transportation system to discuss further. The aim of PMIS 2023 is to bring together innovative academics and industrial experts in the field of Public Management and Intelligent Society to a common forum. The primary goal to promote research and developmental activities and another goal is to promote scientific information interchange between researchers, developers, students, and practitioners in related fields.
