Intelligent Computing Theories and Application
This two-volume set of LNCS 13393 and LNCS 13394 constitutes - in conjunction with the volume LNAI 13395 - the refereed proceedings of the 18th International Conference on Intelligent Computing, ICIC 2022, held in Xi'an, China, in August 2022. The 209 full papers of the three proceedings volumes were carefully reviewed and selected from 449 submissions. This year, the conference concentrated mainly on the theories and methodologies as well as the emerging applications of intelligent computing. Modeling Backscattering Behavior of Vulnerable Road Users Based on High-Resolution Radar Measurements
During the evolvement of autonomous driving technology, obtaining reliable 3-D environmental information is an indispensable task in approaching safe driving. The operational behavior of automotive radars can be precisely evaluated in a virtual test environment by modeling its surrounding, specifically vulnerable road users (VRUs). Such a realistic model can be generated based on the radar cross section (RCS) and Doppler signatures of a VRU. Therefore, this work proposes a high-resolution RCS measurement technique to determine the relevant scattering points of different VRUs.

The Mozi as an Evolving Text
Mozi (ca. 479-381), known as the first outspoken critic of Confucius, is an important but neglected figure in early Chinese philosophy. The book Mozi, named after master Mo, was compiled in the course of the fifth - third centuries BCE. The seven studies included in the The Mozi as an Evolving Text take a fresh look at the Core Chapters, Dialogues, and Opening Chapters of the book Mozi. Rather than presenting a unified vision of Mohist thought, the contributions search for different voices in the text and for evolutions or tensions between its chapters. By analysing the Mozi as an evolving text, these studies not only contribute to the rejuvenation of Mozi studies, but also to the methodology of studying ancient Chinese texts.
