Nano and Micro-Scale Energetic Materials

Provides an up-to-date account of innovative energetic materials and their potential applications in space propulsion and high explosives Most explosives and propellants currently use a small number of ingredients, such as TNT and nitrocellulose. In comparison to conventional materials, nano- and micro-scale energetic materials exhibit superior burning characteristics and much higher energy densities and explosive yields. Nano and Micro-scale Energetic Materials: Propellants and Explosives provides a timely overview of innovative nano-scale energetic materials (nEMs) and microscale energetic materials (μEMs) technology. Covering nEMs and μEMs ingredients as well as formulations, this compr...

The book is the volume of “Political History of the Ming Dynasty” among a series of books of “Deep into China Histories”. The earliest known written records of the history of China date from as early as 1250 BC, from the Shang dynasty (c. 1600–1046 BC) and the Bamboo Annals (296 BC) describe a Xia dynasty (c. 2070–1600 BC) before the Shang, but no writing is known from the period The Shang ruled in the Yellow River valley, which is commonly held to be the cradle of Chinese civilization. However, Neolithic civilizations originated at various cultural centers along both the Yellow River and Yangtze River. These Yellow River and Yangtze civilizations arose millennia before the Shang...

Drawing on hundreds of interviews with top Chinese officials, parliamentarians, scholars, and businessmen, Willy Lam, a renowned journalist and writer on Chinese affairs, presents a first-hand, multi-dimensional account of twenty-first century China and the impact of fourth generation leaders, including President Hu Jinato and Premier Wen Jiabao. Lam goes behind the glitzy facade of nouveau-riche Beijing and Shanghai to examine how the Hu leadership has tried to extend the Communist Party's "mandate of heaven" by tackling an array of daunting problems: the weakening legitimacy of the Party's leadership; restive peasants; angry workers; political stagnation over the lack of reform; foreign re...

To accelerate the potential applications, various works focused on the physical and chemical characteristics through theory, experiments, and simulations of advanced energetic materials (AEMs), including nano-scale energetic materials (nEMs) and micro-scale energetic materials (mEMs). This Special Issue collected comprehensive knowledge on materials synthesis, characterization, combustion, mechanical, detonation, and safety. This Special Issue, Advanced Energetic Materials: Testing and Modeling, explores innovative EMs and EMs ingredients and formulations tests and models. It collected contributions covering recent progress and models of energetic materials in chemical propulsion. Attention was focused on the design, model, properties, and state-of-the-art of this class of thermochemical propulsion devices. A total of 13 papers were selected for publication after a standard peer review process, which summarizes the most recent achievements of famous research groups. Participation of young authors with novel/innovative concepts was especially encouraged, of course, with the assistance of their supervisors.

The Ming–Qing dynastic transition in seventeenth-century China was an epochal event that reverberated in Qing writings and beyond; political disorder was bound up with vibrant literary and cultural production. Women and National Trauma in Late Imperial Chinese Literature focuses on the discursive and imaginative space commanded by women. Encompassing writings by women and by men writing in a feminine voice or assuming a female identity, as well as writings that turn women into a signifier through which authors convey their lamentation, nostalgia, or moral questions for the fallen Ming, the book delves into the mentality of those who remembered or reflected on the dynastic transition, as we...
