The Economy of Roman Palestine presents a description of the economy of the province of Judea-Palestina in the Roman era (AD70 to AD400) on the basis of a broad selection of primary rabbinic sources and a considerable volume of archaeological findings. The period studied is characterised by demographic growth and corresponding economic development. The work describes the agricultural and agrarian structure of the province, the pattern of settlement, trade, and other aspects, depicting an economy based to a great extent on an open market.

Seeking out the Land describes the study of the Holy Land in the Roman period and examines the complex connections between theology, social agenda and the intellectual pursuit. Holiness as a theological concept determines the intellectual agenda of the elite society of writers seeking to describe the land, as well as their preoccupation with its physical aspects and their actual knowledge about it. Ze'ev Safrai succeeds in examining all the ancient monotheistic literature, both Jewish and Christian, up to the fourth century CE, and in demonstrating how all the above-mentioned factors coalesce into a single entity. We learn that in both religions, with all their various subgroups, the same social and religious factors were at work, but with differing intensity.

For generations the Passover Haggadah has been the Jewish text most read and studied by observant Jews. But the premise of Haggadah of the Sages, written by father and son Shmuel and Ze ev Safrai, is that in the time of the Second Temple, the Seder night was not celebrated in the way it is known today. This work, translated from modern Hebrew, traces the progression of the Haggadah, based on hundreds of Geniza fragments, manuscripts, and commentaries of the Rishonim (11th-15th centuries) and Aharonim (16th century onward). The commentary accompanying the Haggadah combines early interpretations with modern research methods. Moreover, there are extensive introductions to and clarification of the Eretz Israel version of the Haggadah which differs somewhat from the Babylonian version recited today.
