Autonomous Trajectory Planning and Guidance Control for Launch Vehicles

This open access book highlights the autonomous and intelligent flight control of future launch vehicles for improving flight autonomy to plan ascent and descent trajectories onboard, and autonomously handle unexpected events or failures during the flight. Since the beginning of the twenty-first century, space launch activities worldwide have grown vigorously. Meanwhile, commercial launches also account for the booming trend. Unfortunately, the risk of space launches still exists and is gradually increasing in line with the rapidly rising launch activities and commercial rockets. In the history of space launches, propulsion and control systems are the two main contributors to launch failures...

Differential-algebraic equations are the most natural way to mathematically model many complex systems in science and engineering. Once the model is derived, it is important to optimize the design parameters and control it in the most robust and efficient way to maximize performance. This book presents the latest theory and numerical methods for the optimal control of differential-algebraic equations. The following features are presented in a readable fashion so the results are accessible to the widest audience: the most recent theory, written by leading experts from a number of academic and nonacademic areas and departments; several state-of-the-art numerical methods; and real-world applications.

Society forges ahead in the process of solving various contradictory problems and it is ceaselessly innovating. It is the desire of mankind to use computers and computing networks to help deal with contradictory problems and to conduct innovative activities. Using formal models to discuss object extension and the possibility of change, as well as the rules and methods for innovation, Extenics is applied to solving contradictory problems and has become the basic theory, method and instrument to achieve this goal. In the 30 years since the foundation of Extenics, researchers have built relatively complete theoretical systems —‘extension theory’, studied formal and modeling innovation met...

23 European Symposium on Computer Aided Process Engineering

This study aims at improving the solution efficiency of Mixed Integer Nonlinear Programming (MINLP) through parallelism. Unlike most conventional parallel implementations of MINLP solvers, which utilize multi-threads to share the burden in the serial mode, the proposed method combines hybrid algorithms running on different threads. Two types of algorithms are designed in a parallel structure. One is the Quesada and Grossman's LP/NLP based branch and bound algorithm (QG); the other is Tabu Search (TS). The proposed method attempts to minimize the search space through continuous communication and exchange of intermediate results from each thread. Three kinds of information are exchanged betwee...

China in Space

In 2019, China astonished the world by landing a spacecraft and rover on the far side of the Moon, something never achieved by any country before. China had already become the world’s leading spacefaring nation by rockets launched, sending more into orbit than any other. China is now a great space superpower alongside the United States and Russia, sending men and women into orbit, building a space laboratory (Tiangong) and sending probes to the Moon and asteroids. Roadmap 2050 promises that China will set up bases on the Moon and Mars and lead the world in science and technology by mid-century. China’s space programme is one of the least well-known, but this book will bring the reader up...
