Mujeres en la periferia ́ ́ es una obra colectiva que se acerca al estudio de la exclusión social en las mujeres. La complejidad de dicho fenómeno hace muy difícil hablar de él en general por lo que el libro adopta una aproximación sectorial que tiene la virtud de ofrecer una visión más afinada, más "a medida" de cada uno de los colectivos que aquí se han seleccionado. La exclusión es un proceso social, un fenómeno situado en el espacio, en el tiempo y determinado por ciertas condiciones de posibilidad con las que cada mujer en particular se encuentra. Esta posición es beligerante con las explicaciones naturalizadas (individuales o deficitarias) de la pobreza, la marginación, etc. que en ocasiones han adoptado algunos estudios sobre estas cuestiones. Este libro trata de transmitir el mensaje de la necesidad del restablecimiento de la ciudadanía para todas las personas y mantener a la vez una mirada atenta a los procesos sociales que provocan la injusticia y al sufrimiento individual que ello genera.
