This book represents a compilation of research in sustainable architecture and planning. Nature Policies and Landscape Policies
The book focuses on the relationship between nature conservation policies and landscape policies. This is a relevant subject due to the current need of reviving nature conservation policies, which are today affected by a general effectiveness deficiency. To this end, landscape policies can play a crucial role, bridging nature and culture, fostering more integrated approaches to nature conservation and stimulating the active participation of local communities. The book gathers reflections, researches and experiences developed on an international level on this subject by experts coming from different international contexts (Europe, U.S.A.), various disciplinary backgrounds (geographers, planners, biologists, historians, jurists, economists, etc.) and several institutional bodies (Universities, administrative bodies, international organizations such as IUCN, EUROPARC Federation, UNESCO, etc.). The overall reflections gathered in the book - which is divided in three main sections: regulations and institutional frameworks, policies, actions and tools - combine to suggest innovative visions about the relationships between nature policies and landscape policies.

Eighth International Symposium “Monitoring of Mediterranean Coastal Areas. Problems and Measurement Techniques” Livorno (Italy) June 2020
The 8th International Symposium "Monitoring of Mediterranean Coastal Areas. Problems and Measurements Techniques" was organized by CNR-IBE in collaboration with FCS Foundation, and Natural History Museum of the Mediterranean and under the patronage of University of Florence, Accademia dei Geogofili, Tuscany Region and Livorno Province. It is the occasion in which scholars can illustrate and exchange their activities and innovative proposals, with common aims to promote actions to preserve coastal marine environment. Considering Symposium interdisciplinary nature, the Scientific Committee, underlining this holistic view of Nature, decided to celebrate Alexander von Humboldt; a nature scholar that proposed the organic and inorganic nature’s aspects as a single system. It represents a sign of continuity considering that in-presence Symposium could not be carried out due to the COVID-19 pandemic restrictions. Subjects are related to coastal topics: morphology; flora and fauna; energy production; management and integrated protection; geography and landscape, cultural heritage and environmental assets, legal and economic aspects.
Floating Districts
The Project is a redevelopment in the ancient port of Genoa. The main goal is to create public space and a mix use Cruise ship Terminal in a industrial zoned area that will become a brownfield. The main concept of the project as a whole is to create an experience for the people of genova with the existing historic site's bands stretching out towards the waters edge. The bands in a way are a release from the series of boundaries, and dense fabric of Genoa, which creates an urban park with distinct areas, paths, and native vegetation to create a floating effect for a roof like structure with programmatic spaces underneath. In addition, Creating a microclimate for a ground condition, terminal, maritime museum, mix used residential building and a site connected urban park with programs throughout. Una raccolta di saggi come questa vuole essere soprattutto la testimonianza di un percorso disciplinare, un cammino simile peraltro a quello compiuto in altre università italiane e tuttavia unico nella sua evoluzione e particolare come ogni esperienza lo è. Dieci anni di lavoro scientifico e didattico sul paesaggio meritavano una riflessione e noi l'abbiamo fatta nell'unico modo che conosciamo: scrivendo. Non c'è, dunque, né potrebbe esserci nessuna volontà celebrativa, è solo un modo, fra i tanti, di compiere una sorta di autoanalisi, di comprendere più approfonditamente noi stessi e di far meglio conoscere agli altri la nostra vicenda, quello che abbiamo prodotto, come l'abbiamo fatto e quali risultati sono stati conseguiti, al fine di poterlo confrontare e mettere a disposizione di quanti si occupano della stessa area disciplinare o di problematiche ad essa vicine.

Enlightening Encounters traces the impact of photography on Italian literature from the medium's invention in 1839 to the present day. Investigating the ways in which Italian literature has responded to photographic practice and aesthetics, the contributors use a wide range of theoretical perspectives to examine a variety of canonical and non-canonical authors and a broad selection of literary genres, including fiction, autobiography, photo-texts, and migration literature. La città e l'acqua
L’architettura del paesaggio, attraverso un approccio multidimensionale e transdisciplinare, propone progetti capaci di costruire relazioni tra lo spazio ridisegnato e il suo contesto, suggerendo, con forte autonomia espressiva, una mediazione per facilitare il dialogo tra discipline, esigenze, tempi e modi di trasformazione. Al progetto di paesaggio si chiede oggi una capacità di ricucitura, di ricostruzione di una dimensione collettiva, soprattutto in quei luoghi dove si avverte una discontinuità, come nel caso del margine urbano verso l’acqua, area con grandi potenzialità per migliorare la qualità della vita degli abitanti.Il volume raccoglie contributi di ricerca sul progetto contemporaneo dello spazio urbano, con specifico riferimento al tema del waterfront, e progetti degli studenti del Laboratorio di Progettazione del Paesaggio degli anni accademici 2015/2016 e 2016/2017.
