Rozważania teoretyczne wsparto analizą danych charakteryzujących Polskę na tle wybranych krajów Unii Europejskiej i USA. Dużą uwagę poświęcono zmianom unormowań prawnych wprowadzonych w naszym kraju w 2014 roku i ich wpływowi na funkcjonowanie powiatowych urzędów pracy, w tym ich współpracy z podmiotami niepublicznymi. Przedstawiono zmiany w instytucjonalnej obsłudze rynku pracy, zwłaszcza w zasadach aktywizacji zawodowej i profilowania bezrobotnych, oraz pierwsze efekty wprowadzonych reform. Dodatkowo w opracowaniu poruszono dwa wybrane problemy wpływające na zachowania pracobiorców, to jest tematykę godzenia pracy zawodowej z życiem rodzinnym oraz subiektywnego dobrostanu osób bezrobotnych.
