Heralding a new period of creativity, In the Wake of the Poetic explores the aesthetics and politics of Palestinian cultural expression in the last two decades. As it increasingly gains a significant presence on the international scene, much of Palestinian art owes a debt to Mahmoud Darwish, one of the finest contemporary poets, and to Palestinian writers of his generation. Rahman maps the immense influence of Darwish’s poetry on a new generation of performance artists, visual artists, spoken-word poets, and musicians. Through an examination of selected works by key artists—such as Suheir Hammad, Ghassan Zaqtan, Elia Suleiman, Mona Hatoum, Sharif Waked, and others—Rahman articulates an aesthetic founded on loss, dispersion, dispossession, and transformation. It interrupts dominant regimes, constituting acts of dissension and intervention. It reinscribes belonging and is oriented toward solidarity and future. This innovative wave of experimentation transforms our understanding of the national through the diasporic and the transnational, and offers a profound meditation on identity.
The Situation of Workers of the Occupied Arab Territories
In accordance with the resolution concerning the implications of Israeli settlements in Palentine and other occupied Arab territories in connection with the situation of Arab workers, adopted by the ILC at its 66th Session in 1980. Again this year 2004, the Director-General sent missions to Israel and the occupied Arab territories and to the Syrian Arab Republic in order to make as full an assessment as possible of the situation of workers of the territories (the West Bank, including East Jesuralem, the Gaza Strip and the Golan).

Origins as a Paradigm in the Sciences and in the Humanities
In this volume, the assumption that origins can be defined as a hermeneutic paradigm in the humanities and in the sciences is explored in relation to specific theoretical frameworks and research methodologies. By investigating how origins have been conceptualised in different domains of knowledge - biology, primatology, psychology, linguistics, history of science, critical theory, classical studies, philology, literary criticism, strategy and accounting - a double movement has been generated: towards the very core of each discipline and beyond disciplinary boundaries. Which are the most productive theories and methods each discipline has elaborated for investigating origins? Can they become trans-disciplinary? Which synergic enquiries can be devised in order to expand and share knowledge? Explaining how and why various disciplines have responded to such questions involves delving into their histories and cultural ideologies in order to verify whether the topic of origins can function as a powerful connector between scientific and humanistic territories.
