Jurist Janez Gregor Dolničar (1655–1719) je bil soustanovitelj in gonilna sila prve ljubljanske znanstvene družbe Academie Operosorum (ustanovljena 1693), v okviru katere je bil rokopis Historia Cathedralis Ecclesiae Labacensis predviden za natis že leta 1714, vendar takrat ni bil objavljen.
