Life in a nutshell. A premature baby destined to die, a devastating breakup, a seemingly affectionate couple's suicide, and how a sliding door moment in time can change your life. Together with sixteen more essays of crushing emotional vulnerability, Unforgettable delivers what the book’s sub-heading promises: Stories that stay with you forever. The stories in Unforgettable are about love in unexpected places, love as desire, as confusion, or self-betrayal. It is about memories and imagination. It shows that people can still find connections and friendships in the harsh light of being lovelorn. This collection shows how things can break apart and how they can come together again. The stories here can make us love and live differently. Unforgettable is a book that deserves to be celebrated, discussed, read and re-read. Give it as a gift or digest it slowly. It can change your life!
In February 1862, General Ambrose E. Burnside led Union forces to victory at the Battle of Roanoke Island. Over the next twenty years, the role and contributions of successfully managed projects will continue to grow in importance to aerospace organizations, especially considering the demands of emerging markets. Managing Aerospace Projects brings together ten seminal SAE technical papers that support the vision of a more holistic and integrated approach to highly complex projects. Using the concept of project management levers, Dr. Jimmy Williams, Jr., the editor of this title, expands on the critical importance of c...
This book traces the beginnings and the first 140 years of the Roman presence in Spain, showing how what began as a purely military commitment developed in addition into a range of civilian activities including taxation, jurisdiction and the founding of both Roman and native settlements. The author uses literary sources, the results of recent and earlier archaeology, numismatics, and epigraphic material to reveal the way in which patterns of administration were created, especially under the direction of the military commanders sent from Rome to the two Spanish provinciae. This is of major importance for understanding the way in which Roman power spread during this period, not only in Spain, but throughout the Mediterranean world.
