Exploring Language Frameworks
This book explores the impact of language frameworks on learning, teaching and assessment, viewed from the perspective of policies, procedures and challenges. It brings together a selection of edited papers, based on presentations given at the 4th International Conference of the Association of Language Testers in Europe (ALTE) held in Kraków, Poland, in July 2011. The selected papers focus on the conference's core themes as follows: the effect of frameworks on teaching, learning and assessment; the value of frameworks for teachers, learners and language policymakers; the contribution of frameworks towards describing particular languages.

Conspiracy Theory Discourses
Conspiracy Theory Discourses addresses a crucial phenomenon in the current political and communicative context: conspiracy theories. The social impact of conspiracy theories is wide-ranging and their influence on the political life of many nations is increasing. Conspiracy Theory Discourses bridges an important gap by bringing discourse-based insights to existing knowledge about conspiracy theories, which has so far developed in research areas other than Linguistics and Discourse Studies. The chapters in this volume call attention to conspiracist discourses as deeply ingrained ways to interpret reality and construct social identities. They are based on multiple, partly overlapping analytical frameworks, including Critical Discourse Analysis, rhetoric, metaphor studies, multimodality, and corpus-based, quali-quantitative approaches. These approaches are an entry point to further explore the environments which enable the proliferation of conspiracy theories, and the paramount role of discourse in furthering conspiracist interpretations of reality.

Transdisciplinarity and Translationality in High Dilution Research
While evidence for the biological effects of high dilutions (above Avogadro’s number) has been extensively documented since the 1980s, it seems to remain invisible to part of the global scientific community. This book provides investigators and other interested readers with direct access to the latest research, conducted between 2009 and 2019, by members of the Groupe International de Recherche sur l’Infinitésimal, the first international scientific society devoted to scientific studies of high dilutions. As shown here, the state of the art in high dilution research allows answering with a sound, evidence-based “no” to the question “Is homeopathy really that implausible?” Therefore this book is an essential contribution to the ongoing debate on complementary and alternative medicine, much-needed by practitioners, patients, and governments in the formulation of healthcare policies.

The two-volume set LNAI 12319 and 12320 constitutes the proceedings of the 9th Brazilian Conference on Intelligent Systems, BRACIS 2020, held in Rio Grande, Brazil, in October 2020. The total of 90 papers presented in these two volumes was carefully reviewed and selected from 228 submissions. The contributions are organized in the following topical section: Part I: Evolutionary computation, metaheuristics, constrains and search, combinatorial and numerical optimization; neural networks, deep learning and computer vision; and text mining and natural language processing.
