What follows in these writings is an account of my experiences, with the exception of some brief background focusing mainly from the time period of 1998 to present. It is not my intention to purport any sort of authoritative misguided stance of truth that beckons your adherence; rather it is that which is aptly titled, A Journey of Self Deception. Make of it what you will, for in all honesty it is still my greatest struggle to decipher what if any meaning there was and is in all if not any of it. Im not under any delusive pretense that this is of if any sort of import, as you will see for yourself I went that road. Rather I get the strange sense that this will be therapeutic and perhaps cautionary to those who seek higher or greater understanding from falling into the same mind traps I did. Insanity or Epiphany, I still dont know!

We investigate the organizational pursuit of seemingly impossible goals - commonly known as stretch goals. Building from our analysis of the mechanisms through which stretch goals could influence organizational learning and performance, we offer a contingency framework evaluating which organizations are positioned to benefit from such extreme goals, and which are most likely to pursue them. We conclude that stretch goals are, paradoxically, most seductive for organizations that can least afford the risks associated with them.

Way of the Lawless

Young Andrew Lanning lived in the small, hushed world of his own thoughts. He neither loved norhated the people around him. He simply did not see them. His mother-it was from her that heinherited the softer qualities of his mind and his face-had left him a little stock of books. And thoughAndy was by no means a reader, he had at least picked up that dangerous equipment of fiction whichenables a man to dodge reality and live in his dreams. Those dreams had as little as possible to do withthe daily routine of his life, and certainly the handling of guns, which his uncle enforced upon him, wasnever a part of the future as Andy saw it.It was now the late afternoon; the alkali dust in the road wa...
