Strategy and Governance of Networks
The book emphasizes research in economics and management of networks as an interdisciplinary field by offering new theoretical perspectives and presenting new empirical results on strategic and governance structure issues in cooperatives, franchising networks, alliances, joint ventures and venture capital relations. The authors apply different theoretical views on networks, such as transaction cost theory, property rights theory, resource- and knowledge-based theory, evolutionary theory, information richness theory and social exchange theory.
Being There, but How?
In phenomenological tradition, presence has been understood as fundamental for human experience: I experience the world as my lifeworld because I am present in this world. Even more, I experience myself as »I« only in the physical presence of the other. However, this concept of presence has become fragile through processes of medialization - especially in (post-)pandemic everyday life. Presence can no longer be experienced exclusively in physical proximity, but also digitally or virtually. With global case studies alongside theoretical discussions by both students as well as junior and senior researchers, the volume launches a conversation between social sciences and humanities on how this change affects human experience.
Cosmopolitan Sociability
This book approaches the concept of cosmopolitan sociability as a cultural or territorial rootedness that facilitates a simultaneous openness to shared human emotions, experiences, and aspirations. Cosmopolitan Sociability critiques definitions of cosmopolitanism as a tolerance for cultural difference or a universalist morality that arise from contemporary experiences of mobility and globalization. Challenging these assumptions, the book explores the degree to which a 'cosmopolitan dimension' can be practised within particular religious communities, diasporic ties, or gendered migrant identities in different parts of the world. A wide variety of expert contributors offer rich ethnographic insights into the interplay of social interactions and cosmopolitan sociability. In this way the book contributes significantly to ethnic and migration studies, global anthropology, social theory, and religious and cultural studies. Cosmopolitan Sociability was originally published as a special issue of Ethnic and Racial Studies.
Emerging Bodies
The concept of »worldmaking« is based on the idea that ›the world‹ is not given, but rather produced through language, actions, ideas and perception. This collection of essays takes a closer look at various hybrid and disparate worlds related to dance and choreography. Coming from a broad range of different backgrounds and disciplines, the authors inquire into the ways of producing ›dance worlds‹: through artistic practice, discourse and media, choreographic form and dance material. The essays in this volume critically reflect the predominant topos of dance as something fleeting and ephemeral - an embodiment of the Other in modernity. Moreover, they demonstrate that there is more than just one universal »world of dance«, but rather a multitude of interrelated dance worlds with more emerging every day.
Wachen, kontrollieren, patrouillieren
Das Konzept der Kustodialisierung versucht einen neuen Zugriff auf die Veränderungen im Bereich der Inneren Sicherheit vorzunehmen. Anhand von mehreren Beispielen werden nicht nur aktuelle Entwicklungen untersucht. Hierunter fallen u.a. neue Formen der staatlichen Kontrolle, Veränderungen im Sicherheitsgefühl, Umstrukturierungen in der Bereitstellung von Sicherheit im kommunalen Sektor, aber auch die Rolle der Inklusion des Bürgers in Sicherheitsaufgaben. Am Ende soll geklärt werden, ob mit Hilfe der Kustodialisierung der "neue" Zugriff auf alte Probleme im Sicherheitsbereich gelungen ist oder in welche Richtung gezielte Forschung ansetzen müsste.

Chancen und Risiken kommunaler Kriminalprävention
Seit den 1990er Jahren findet eine stetige Expansion der kommunalen Kriminalprävention statt. Dies zeigt sich vor allem in der großen Zahl von lokalen Präventionsräten, die mittlerweile in sehr vielen Kommunen anzutreffen sind. Die vorliegende Studie befasst sich mit den Chancen und Risiken kommunaler Kriminalprävention. Anhand von sechzehn qualitativen Interviews mit Angehörigen und Experten aus diesem speziellen Feld ist ein Bild entstanden, das viele Hintergründe aufzeigt und erklärt.
