Hitler's White Russians

The text is supported by close to 2,000 fully documented footnotes, as well as 125 rare photographs, many never before published, 97 battle maps (33 in full color), 12 color plates, 40 tables, 9 appendices, 9-page glossary of German political and military terms, and a 30-page index which facilitates research. The authors used materials from the Minsk archives, Bundesarchiv, US Holocaust Memorial Museum, US National Archives, Museum of Modern History, Ljubljana and the Yad Vashem Archives in Israel in addition to employing items from private sources. This is truly a monumental study on a little known subject.
The German Secret Field Police in Greece, 1941-1944
The Geheime Feldpolizei (Secret Field Police) was the political police force of the German Army during World War II. Its members were drawn from both the regular German police, including detectives, and various Nazi security organizations. The goals of the GFP were numerous and included protecting important political and military leaders; investigating black market activities as well as acts of sabotage and espionage; locating deserters; examining anti-German activists and hunting down partisans. While performing these duties, GFP members immersed themselves in criminal activities. This book focuses on the function of the GFP in Greece compared to that of the GFP elsewhere in Europe.

"During World War II, the German SS, Police, and Gestapo forces raised auxiliary formations from non-German (foreign) volunteers. These units contributed greatly to the German war effort, by aiding the Nazi occupation forces in combating the growing partisan menace and subjugating the captive population. This is the story of one such collaborationist formation, the 'Oberkrainer Selbstschutz,' or Upper Carnolia Home Defense Force, which was raised in the northern reaches of the Yugoslav province of Slovenia. Yugoslavia-- an artificial by-product of the treaty which ended World War I, was a hodge-podge of ethnically diverse nationalities-- all competing with one another for economic and political independence and preeminence. When Yugoslavia was invaded and conquered, the Axis used these ethnic, political, and economic differences to help them control the country. This tactic of 'divide and conquer' was employed throughout the country and Slovenia, like the rest of Yugoslavia, proved to be a fertile field for the employment of Nazi war aims"--P. [4] of cover.
