Ketum boleh diibaratkan sebagai “The magical plant of Malaysia”. Prof. Dr. Mustafa Ali Mohamed, Fakulti Perubatan, Universiti Malaya. Theophrast (The father of botany) pula memberi nasihat bagaimana tumbuh-tumbuhan bertoksid boleh meninggalkan kesan ketagihan jika tidak dipantau pengambilannya. Samihah Khalil, Universiti Utara Malaysia

A close confidante of Dato’ Onn Jaafar, Thuraisingham played a leading role with Onn in the formation of the Independence of Malaya Party in 1951 and sought to instill a non-communal approach to Malayan politics.
