Exploring Interconnectedness
This volume explores the socio-cultural and media background of a critical and ongoing political challenge: the complex entanglement between European integration and strong national agendas in the context of globalisation. It does so using educational media - both textbooks and digital media - as sites of cultural contestation to enquire into the intricate relationships around national and European identities and aspects of students’ knowledge and reception. Using a variety of methods and technologies, the chapters analyse identity constructions present in educational media discourses, embedded as they are in their national and European contexts and as both the catalysts and products of their time. The book is a study of the post-digital condition in an educational context, exploring the potential of digital humanities and linguistic approaches for educational media research and employing methods such as eye-tracking or concept maps.

Between 1714 and 1837, the German Chancellery in London was the central administrative institution of the Electors of Brunswick-Lüneburg, and from 1814 Kings of Hanover during their time as British kings to organise their rule in absentia. Such personal unions were widespread in early modern Europe. This book is the first to focus paradigmatically on this most important institution of the personal union between Great Britain and the Electorate of Hanover. It examines the personal union as a space of communication and the functioning of a composite state under George I and George II from 1714 to 1760, focusing on the communication processes between the centres of government as well as their infrastructural, social and legal contexts. The so-called English Chancery in Hanover, which British politics and administration established in return during the kings' numerous extended journeys to their ancestral lands, is used as a level of comparison.

Verfahrenstheorie
Das Verfahrensrecht ist eng mit der Rechtsstruktur verknüpft; zugleich erscheint es als Rechtsgebiet tendenziell immer vernachlässigt, weil ihm gegenüber dem materiellen Recht immer der vermeintliche Makel des Sekundären, Technischen, "bloß Formalen" anhaftet. Philipp Reimer wirkt diesem Eindruck entgegen, indem er zunächst wissenschaftstheoretisch herausarbeitet, welche unterschiedlichen Fragestellungen in Bezug auf Verfahrensrecht verfolgt werden (können) - außer anwendungsbezogen-dogmatischen auch beobachtend-theoretische verschiedenster Art. Unter letzteren, den "verfahrenstheoretischen", lassen sich neben wirklichkeits- auch normwissenschaftliche Forschungsfragen identifizieren. Diese juridische Verfahrenstheorie kann Rechtsnormen in Kontexte stellen und deuten und insoweit als Reflexions- und Relaisdisziplin fungieren. Den hier möglichen Ansätzen widmet sich die Arbeit im Weiteren historisch und systematisch.
