Spanische Kunst von El Greco bis Dalí / Arte Español del Greco hasta Dalí
In den vergangenen Jahren hat die Spanienforschung eine ganze Reihe von Entdeckungen und Neubewertungen hervorgebracht. Im deutschen Sprachraum sind diese aber bisher kaum wahrgenommen worden. Die Gründe dafür liegen in den im Norden Europas verbreiteten Stereotypen über den katholischen Süden, die teilweise noch immer auf die anti-spanische „Schwarze Legende“ zurückgreifen. Die Autoren dieses Bandes wollen solche Stereotype nicht nur dekonstruieren, sondern versuchen zugleich, mit dem aktuellen Konzept von Ambiguität – der kalkulierten Mehrdeutigkeit – eine alternative Sichtweise aufzuzeigen. Zwischen den chronologischen Polen von El Greco und Salvador Dalí behandeln sie in interdisziplinären Beiträgen diverse Gattungen der Malerei sowie Strategien der (Selbst-)Inszenierung und soziale Hintergründe künstlerischer Produktion.
Ancient Libraries and Renaissance Humanism
Winner of the 2018 Josef IJsewijn Prize for Best Book on a Neo-Latin Topic Although many humanists, from Petrarch to Fulvio Orsini, had written briefly about library history, the De bibliothecis of Justus Lipsius was the first self-contained monograph on the topic. The De bibliothecis proved to be a seminal achievement, both in redefining the scope of library history and in articulating a vision of a public, secular, research institution for the humanities. It was repeatedly reprinted and translated, plagiarized and epitomized. Through the end of the nineteenth century, scholars turned to it as the ultimate foundation for any discussion of library history. In Ancient Libraries and Renaissance Humanism, Hendrickson presents a critical edition of Lipsius’s work with introductory studies, a Latin text, English translation, and a substantial historical commentary.

The festschrifts are located in state and regional libraries and their bibliographic details are recorded. Since 1983, more than 659,000 articles from more than 30,500 festschrifts, published between 1977 and 2011, have been catalogued.
Methodologies and Intelligent Systems for Technology Enhanced Learning, 9th International Conference
This book, which gathers the outcomes of the 9th International Conference on Methodologies and Intelligent Systems for Technology Enhanced Learning and its related workshops, expands on the topics of the evidence-based TEL workshop series in order to provide an open forum for discussing intelligent systems for TEL, their roots in novel learning theories, empirical methodologies for their design and evaluation, stand-alone solutions, and web-based ones. The Conference was hosted by the University of Salamanca and was held in Ávila (Spain) from the 26th to the 28th of June 2019. Its goal was to bring together researchers and developers from industry, education, and the academic world to report on the latest scientific research, technical advances, and methodologies. Giovanni Battista Calandra (1586-1644)
La figura di Giovanni Battista Calandra (1586-1644), vercellese ma attivo a Roma, è per la prima volta oggetto di un lavoro di sintesi, che ne fonde magistralmente gli aspetti umani e artistici. Calandra emerge dalla monografia tra le più illustri personalità artistiche d'origine piemontese attive nella prima metà del Seicento. Protetto da papa Urbano VIII, fu anche al servizio del cardinal Francesco Barberini, che lo impegnò tra l'altro per la straordinaria impresa di restauro del celeberrimo Mosaico Nilotico di Palestrina. A ricordare il grande mosaicista rimangono opere di singolare bellezza: le pitture del salone dell'Archivio Segreto Vaticano, i mosaici della Cappella Filomarino a Napoli, le sue opere nella Basilica di San Pietro, nelle cappelle della Madonna della Colonna, dei Santi Michele e Petronilla e sopra la Porta Santa.
