The contributions in this volume dedicated to anthropologist Martin Sökefeld explore methodological and ethical dimensions of multi-sided ethnographic research. Based on diverse cases ranging from hobbies over kinship ties to political activism, the contributors show how personal relationships, passions and commitments drive ethnographers in and beyond research, shaping the knowledge they create together with others.
Spaces of Conflict in Everyday Life
Conflicts are everyday situations and experiences with which people have to cope. Focusing on particularly conflict-prone parts of Asia, the contributions to this book analyze the dynamics of conflicts from the perspectives of the actors involved, and pay particular attention to aspects like mobilization, exclusion, segregation, the role of institutions and the construction of antagonistic identities. The book gathers case studies based on long-term fieldwork from conflicts in Kyrgyzstan, Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Kashmir.

Ethik der Partizipation
Die Forderung nach einem Mehr an Partizipation ist allgegenwärtig. Dies gilt auch für die Gesundheitsforschung bzw. die Entwicklung und Regulierung neuer Gesundheitstechnologien. Mit Partizipation sind viele Hoffnungen verbunden, darunter die Demokratisierung und Bedürfnisorientierung von Entscheidungsprozessen. Häufig bleibt jedoch unklar, wie sich Beteiligung verantwortungsvoll ausgestalten lässt. Offen ist beispielsweise, wie mit Zugangsbarrieren oder Machtgefällen umgegangen werden soll. Die Beiträge dieses Bandes beleuchten die theoretischen Grundlagen einer Ethik der Partizipation, geben aber auch Hinweise zur verantwortungsvollen Umsetzung aus der Praxis.
S. Antonio in Polesine. Archeologia e storia di un monastero estense
Attraverso i risultati dell’indagine archeologica condotta dalla Soprintendenza per i Beni Archeologici dell’Emilia Romgna in occasione dei lavori di restauro e ristrutturazione viene ricostruita la storia del Monastero di S. Antonio in Polesine, uno dei complessi monastici più antichi di Ferrara e l’unico con contin ità di vita dal medioevo fino ai nostri giorni. Il risultato complessivo, esito assai riuscito di uno sforzo organizzativo e scientifico condotto in maniera egregia da Chiara Guarnieri, è un affresco composito in cui l’analisi tradizionale dei reperti e dei contesti di scavo, compito primario dell’archeologia, si sposa con il loro inserimento nel contesto storico e monumentale del complesso monastico, in un arco cronologico che va dal XIV al XVIII secolo.

Una vera e propria guerra dell’“altra metà del cielo” (Mao Tze-tung) che ancora oggi rivendica la possibilità di esistere ed essere riconosciuta come donna e non come genere.
