Este libro trata algunos casos de niños o adolescentes que están o parecen zurdos, pero en realidad no lo son, porque siendo diestros utilizan la mano izquierda, debido a un deterioro, lesión o falta de maduración del hemisferio cerebral dominante izquierdo. Abocados al fracaso, esta situación les supone, entre otros déficits, dificultades de lecto-escritura y problemas de rendimiento escolar, siendo derivados a recuperaciones pedagógicas, o tratamientos psicológicos o psiquiátricos, sin resultado alguno, por falta del diagnóstico clínico adecuado. Ante la necesidad de prevención de los trastornos de la lateralidad en general, y de la falsa zurdería en especial, este libro presenta unos capítulos sobre los sistemas neurofisiológicos, explicando el desarrollo del cerebro y de los sentidos, para enfocar el tema, ilustrados con imágenes y tablas. Se exponen las bases neuro-fisiológicas de los problemas, así como sus síntomas, causas y soluciones basadas en casos clínicos tratados, con una muestra de seis casos en el último capítulo.

Converso Non-Conformism in Early Modern Spain
This book examines the effects of Jewish conversions to Christianity in late medieval Spanish society. Ingram focuses on these converts and their descendants (known as conversos) not as Judaizers, but as Christian humanists, mystics and evangelists, who attempt to create a new society based on quietist religious practice, merit, and toleration. His narrative takes the reader on a journey from the late fourteenth-century conversions and the first blood purity laws (designed to marginalize conversos), through the early sixteenth-century Erasmian and radical mystical movements, to a Counter-Reformation environment in which conversos become the advocates for pacifism and concordance. His account ends at the court of Philip IV, where growing intolerance towards Madrid’s converso courtiers is subtly attacked by Spain’s greatest painter, Diego Velázquez, in his work, Los Borrachos. Finally, Ingram examines the historiography of early modern Spain, in which he argues the converso reform phenomenon continues to be underexplored.
