Eating at School
This publication contains the report of the European Forum, organised jointly by the Council of Europe and the WHO Regional Office for Europe, and held in Strasbourg, France in November 2003 with participants from 27 countries. The aims of the Forum were to promote healthy eating in schools as an integral part of healthy lifestyles; to review different European approaches to provision of school meals; and to make proposals for follow-up activities to be pursued by the Council of Europe.
The Knowledge Triangle Programme
The Knowledge Triangle programme was initiated by the Nordic Council of Ministers in 2011 with the aim to study and promote knowledge transfer between innovation actors in academia, industry and public sectors of the Nordic countries. Networks of relevant actors were established in key thematic areas to facilitate a systematic and sustainable model of cooperation with the long-term ambition to stimulate economic growth in the Nordic countries. In 2012, the programme was extended to include both Nordic and Chinese innovation actors. This publication is a collective work of partners of the Knowledge Triangle programme and provides an overview of the Nordic and Sino-Nordic networks. The publication acts as a report of the programme and as a guide for academia, research institutions and businesses to discover new models to build a strong knowledge base and accelerate innovation processes.
Ethics and the politics of food
"Food has emerged as a political topic par excellence. It is increasingly involved in controversies at a transnational level, in relation to issues of access, dominance, trade and control in a shared global environment. At the same time, innovations in biotechnology and animal domestication have brought ethics to the forefront of food debates. Thus, we live in an era when the ethics and the politics of food must come together. This book addresses the ethics and the politics of food from a broad range of academic disciplines, including sociology, philosophy, nutrition, anthropology, ethics, political science and history. The chapters expose novel problem areas, and suggest guidelines for approaching them. Topics range from fundamental issues in philosophy to sustainability, from consumer trust in food to ethical toolkits. Transparency, power and responsibility are key concerns, and special attention is given to animal welfare, emerging technologies in food production and marine domestication. Together, the chapters represent a wide range of academic responses to the fundamental dilemmas posed by food production and food consumption in the contemporary world."
Tourism Encounters and Controversies
Focusing on ontological politics of tourism development, this book examines how different versions of tourism are enacted, how encounters between different versions of tourism orderings may result in controversies, but also on how these enactments and encounters are entangled in multiple ways to broader areas of development, conservation, policy and destination management.
