A Jew in the Woods - Pages from a Diary
A renowned Yiddish/Hebrew scholar and writer, Berl Kagan (Kahn) felt the need to keep a permanent record of hisexperiences while in hiding from the Nazis in the woods of Lithuania during World War II. As paper was not readily available, he kept his notes by writing between the lines of an existing book. The original book was written in Yiddish - A Yid in Vald. A Jew in the Woods is the literal English translation.

Luboml
The story of the former Polish-Jewish community (shtetl) of Luboml, Wołyń, Poland. Its Jewish population of some 4,000, dating back to the 14th century, was exterminated by the occupying German forces and local collaborators in October, 1942. Luboml was formerly known as Lyuboml, Volhynia, Russia and later Lyuboml, Volyns'ka, Ukraine. It was also know by its Yiddish name: Libivne.

Die Jiddisch-Bestände der Bayerischen Staatsbibliothek sind mit über 5.000 Bänden die umfangreichsten in einer deutschen Bibliothek. Die Sammlung wurde Mitte des 16. Jahrhunderts begonnen und ohne Unterbrechungen bis heute fortgeführt. Der vorliegende Katalog enthält ein Register mit Namen in hebräischer Schrift und Verweisungen auf die Ansetzungsform in lateinischer Schrift.
