History of the Archbishops of Hamburg-Bremen
Adam of Bremen's history of the see of Hamburg and of Christian missions in northern Europe from the late eighth to the late eleventh century is the primary source of our knowledge of the history, geography, and ethnography of the Scandinavian and Baltic regions and their peoples before the thirteenth century. Arriving in Bremen in 1066 and soon falling under the tutelage of Archbishop Adalbert, who figures prominently in the narrative, Adam recorded the centuries-long campaign by his church to convert Slavic and Scandinavian peoples. His History vividly reflects the firsthand accounts he received from travelers, traders, and missionaries on the peripheries of medieval Europe.

Bremen and Freiburg Lectures
This volume presents two important lecture cycles delivered after WWII, exploring the poetry of Hölderlin and the nature of thought itself. Heidegger delivered his lecture series, Insight into That Which Is, at Bremen in 1949. It was his first speaking engagement after World War II, when he was officially banned from teaching. Here, Heidegger openly resumes thinking that deeply engaged him with Hölderlin’s poetry and themes developed in his earlier works. In the Freiburg lectures, delivered in 1957, Heidegger ponders thought itself and freely engages with the German idealists and Greek thinkers who had provoked him in the past. Andrew J. Death of a Traveller
It is a simple story. A 37-year-old man belonging to the Traveller community is shot dead by a special unit of the French police on the family farm where he was hiding since he failed to return to prison after temporary release. The officers claim self-defense. The relatives, present at the scene, contest that claim. A case is opened, and it concludes with a dismissal that is upheld on appeal. Dismayed by these decisions, the family continues the struggle for truth and justice. Giving each account of the event the same credit, Didier Fassin conducts a counter-investigation, based on the re-examination of all the available details and on the interviews of its protagonists. Regimes of Belonging – Schools – Migrations
This edited volume aims to critically discuss in how far the national orientation of schools and teacher education is appropriate in light of increasing migration and transnationality. The contributions offer ideas from teacher education research and school pedagogical practice in different nation-state contexts such as Austria, Canada, Chile, Greece, Israel, Japan, Switzerland, Turkey, the UK, and the USA. They ask which empirical and theoretical approaches are suitable for describing the phenomena of pedagogical-professional dealings with migration-related and transnational demands on schools. In raising this question, they do not reduce the analytical focus on migrants, their migration paths, actions or attitudes. Instead, the authors analyse the global interconnectedness and entanglements – each embedded in their specific national and global societal power structures and hierarchical relationships – and the country-specific and transnational structures and contextual conditions of schools and teacher education.
