Jochum-Bortfeld betrachtet die Anthropologie des Markusevangeliums innerhalb der gesellschaftlich konstruierten Menschenbilder seiner Zeit, die Idealvorstellungen vom Menschen normativ vorgaben. Der Evangelist setzt sich mit den Schattenseiten dieser Ideale auseinander und entwirft auf der Basis seiner religiösen Tradition Gegenbilder. Schwerpunkt der Arbeit ist die Untersuchung der Handlungs- und Kommunikationsstrukturen von Erzählungen des Evangeliums: Menschen, die von der Gesellschaft nicht als vollwertige Menschen anerkannt werden, werden als sprach- und handlungsfähig dargestellt: Sie lehnen sich gegen die Restriktionen der vorgegebenen Menschenbilder auf und suchen einen neuen Anfang.

One of the main research problems till now though has been bringing historic-critical methods and synchronic approaches together in a unified system of interpretation. Rage in the Belly
How is rage related to hunger? Hunger is a liminal experience, connected to powerlessness, shame, and violence. Hunger does not issue into speech. It cannot therefore be easily found in the biblical texts, written by (and about) people who knew hunger. It hides behind the words in these texts. Rage, conversely, finds expression; and in the texts, it can alert readers to hidden experiences of hunger. But rage is not just a response to the lack of food. It is also a transformative force, reaching towards a justice that is not yet real. The experience of hunger and the fear of famine often go hand in hand with anger—a rage that can bring whole populations to their feet. Luzia Sutter Rehmann develops a biblical hermeneutic that centers on the “fire” in the belly of the hungry, their rage that leads to protests and uprisings. Her reading shows “the poor” or “the many” as those with whom Jesus cooperates and as subjects acting on their own initiative. The book also highlights key socio-historical information on the food situation of ancient Rome and Palestine: on poverty, political dependence and unrest, droughts, and famines.

Die AutorInnen dieses Bandes gehen jeweils von menschlichen Erfahrungen von Gewalt, Macht und Ohnmacht aus und setzen diese in Beziehung mit der Rede von Gott. Sie zeigen, wie nicht nur die allgegenwärtige Erfahrung von Gewalt das Reden von Gott beeinflusst und prägt, sondern wie umgekehrt auch das Reden von Gott den Umgang mit erfahrener Gewalt bestimmen kann - als Fähigkeit zum Ertragen von Gewalt, als Fähigkeit, Ambivalenz auszuhalten, aber auch als Bestärkung von Widerstandskraft (Resilienz) und als Ermutigung zur Auflehnung. Biblische und heutige Perspektiven werden dabei aufeinander bezogen.
The Responsibility of Science
This open access book provides an overview of issues of scientific responsibility. The volume comprises three types of contributions: first, analyses of the responsibility of science; second, analyses of the structural conditions for science and its responsibility; and third, normative versions of scientific responsibility. The questions and problems dealt with include science as a profession, ambivalence of research and dual-use, innovation vs. precaution, notions of responsibility, the role of science within society and its relation to human rights, as well as scientific and public discourses.
