"Be naturalized", Report on Naturalisation in Portugal
Portuguese nationality law developed as a response to specific historical contexts, particularly influenced by the country’s colonial past. Due to changing patterns of migration, and increasing inward migration by a more diverse group of migrants, it was seen as necessary to overhaul the existing system for the acquisition, attribution, loss and re-acquisition of Portuguese nationality. The new law, passed at the end of 2006, reflects many of the recommendations made by policy experts in relation to nationality (Bauböck et al, 2006a: 32-4), including simplification and transparency of procedures, improved access for second and third generation migrants, the removal of differential access for migrants according to country of origin, and the organisation of a public campaign to promote naturalisation. The acquisition of nationality by migrants and their children is therefore seen as a fundamental aspect of immigrant integration policy in Portugal.
Computational Processing of the Portuguese Language
This book constitutes the thoroughly refereed proceedings of the 8th International Workshop on Computational Processing of the Portuguese Language, PROPOR 2012, held in Coimbra, Portugal in April 2012. The 24 revised full papers and 23 revised short papers presented were carefully reviewed and selected from 86 submissions. This two-volume set LNCS 12131 and LNCS 12132 constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 17th International Conference on Image Analysis and Recognition, ICIAR 2020, held in Póvoa de Varzim, Portugal, in June 2020. The 54 full papers presented together with 15 short papers were carefully reviewed and selected from 123 submissions. Star Clusters in the Era of Large Surveys
The symposium “Star Clusters in the Era of Large Surveys” was held in Lisbon on Sep 9-10 during the JENAM 2010. It served as a platform for discussing what and how recent, on-going and planned large-area ground-based and space-based surveys can contribute to producing a major leap in this research field, which has a strong European history. Scientific topics addressed included: cluster searches, clustered vs. isolated star formation, large-scale star formation, enrichment of the field population, structure, populations and evolution of the Milky Way, cluster dynamics (internal and within the Milky Way), variability of stars in clusters (from time-resolved surveys), analysis techniques for large samples and archiving. This proceedings book provides a snapshot of the ongoing discussion on the role of large surveys in star cluster research, and serves as a reference volume for the state-of-the art in the field.

The six authors describe how objective electrophysiological data provides useful data for assessment and therapy for physical therapists, psychologists and other healthcare professionals and their clients. China's Internal and International Migration
One consequence of China’s economic growth has been a massive increase in migration, both internal and external. Within China millions of rural workers have migrated to the cities. Outside China, many Chinese have migrated to other parts of the world, their remittances home often having a significant impact within China. Also, China’s increasing links to other parts of the world have led to a growth in migration to China, most interestingly recently migration from Africa. Based on extensive original research, this book examines a wide range of issues connected to Chinese migration.
