An Experimental Study of the Propagation of Torsional Plastic Waves in a Stress-free and a Prestressed Tube
The results from an experimental investigation on the propagation of torsional plastic waves along a prestressed tube and a stress-free tube are presented in this report. It was found that the wave speed at various strain levels in a pre-stressed tube, in contrast with the results from Sternglass and Stuart's experiment, agrees well with those calculated from the strain-rate independent theory.
