For this new edition emphasis has been given to increasing the number of entries for organizations from Britain, the United States and Australia, and particular attention has been paid to new political organizations in Central and Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union. Ces directives ont été élaborées en partenariat avec la Commission européenne, le Conseil international pour l'éducation physique et la science du sport (CIEPSS), le Comité International Olympique (CIO), le Programme des Nations Unies pour le développement (PNUD), le Fonds des Nations Unies pour l'enfance (UNICEF), le Bureau des Nations Unies pour le sport au service du développement et de la paix (UNOSDP) et l'Organisation mondiale de la santé (OMS) en vue de contribuer à l'enseignement d'une éducation physique de qualité pour l'ensemble des tranches d'âge allant de la petite enfance jusqu'à la fin du cycle secondaire.
