The educational policies of each country should identify objectives and orientations adapted to their own circumstances. Good policies are needed in order that development of professional education ensures the competencies that teachers and professors will require along their extensive professional trajectory. Society needs good teachers and professors whose professional practice responds to professional standards of quality, and that they comply in the first place with a basic commitment: that of respecting the right of students to learn.

Education Reforms and Teachers' Unions
This publication examines the situation of teachers' unions in Latin America and their role in the implementation of recent education reforms. It highlights the importance of collaboration between policy-makers and unions and makes relevant recommendations.
