Formerly known by its subtitle "Internationale Zeitschriftenschau für Bibelwissenschaft und Grenzgebiete", the International Review of Biblical Studies has served the scholarly community ever since its inception in the early 1950's. Each annual volume includes approximately 2,000 abstracts and summaries of articles and books that deal with the Bible and related literature, including the Dead Sea Scrolls, Pseudepigrapha, Non-canonical gospels, and ancient Near Eastern writings. The abstracts - which may be in English, German, or French - are arranged thematically under headings such as e.g. "Genesis", "Matthew", "Greek language", "text and textual criticism", "exegetical methods and approaches", "biblical theology", "social and religious institutions", "biblical personalities", "history of Israel and early Judaism", and so on. The articles and books that are abstracted and reviewed are collected annually by an international team of collaborators from over 300 of the most important periodicals and book series in the fields covered.

Physicists say that interstellar space travel is impossible. The distances too great, the velocities too small, the accelerations too inertial, the possible protection too small, the prospects for success nil. But this may be short-sighted.The author makes clear why Einstein's approaches are misinterpreted and why spacecraft accelerating to faster-than-light speeds free of inertia need not contradict either classical physics or modern relativity.-The title "On Foot Through the Galaxy" reminds us that it is sometimes useful to solve recognized problems "on foot" without available tools and away from the school of thought, in order to get to the real and unrecognized causes of the problem.

This book, which was first published in 1988, deals with the neglected history of the lowest layers of German society, of marginal, outcast and deviant groups such as arsonists, witches, bandits, infanticides, poachers, murderers, prostitutes, vagrants and thieves, from the end of the thirteenth century to the middle of the twentieth. This book is ideal for students of history, particularly the German history.
