“IAS has been held every two years since 1986 providing venue for the latest accomplishments and innovations in advanced intelligent autonomous systems. New technologies and application domains continuously pose new challenges to be overcome in order to apply intelligent autonomous systems in a reliable and user-independent way in areas ranging from industrial applications to professional service and household domains. The present book contains the papers presented at the 17th International Conference on Intelligent Autonomous Systems (IAS-17), which was held from June 13–16, 2022, in Zagreb, Croatia. In our view, 62 papers, authored by 196 authors from 19 countries, are a testimony to the appeal of the conference considering travel restrictions imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic. Our special thanks go to the authors and the reviewers for their effort—the results of their joint work are visible in this book. Electric and Plug-in Hybrid Vehicle Networks
This book explores the behavior of networks of electric and hybrid vehicles. The topics that are covered include: energy management issues for aggregates of plug-in vehicles; the design of sharing systems to support electro-mobility; context awareness in the operation of electric and hybrid vehicles, and the role that this plays in a Smart City context; and tools to test and design massively large-scale networks of such vehicles. The book also introduces new and interesting control problems that are becoming prevalent in the EV-PHEV's context, as well as identifying some open questions. A particular focus of the book is on the opportunities afforded by networked actuation possibilities in electric and hybrid vehicles, and the role that such actuation may play in air-quality and emissions management.

The purpose of this book is to give an exposition of recently adaptive PI/PD/PID control design for nonlinear systems. Since PI/PD/PID control is simple in structure and inexpensive in implementation, it has been undoubtedly the most widely employed controller in industry. In fact, PI/PD/PID controllers are sufficient for many control problems, particularly when process dynamics are benign and the performance requirements are modest. The book focuses on how to design general PI/PD/PID controller with self-tuning gains for different systems, which includes SISO nonlinear system, SISO nonaffine system and MIMO nonlinear system.

World Bank Discussion Paper No. 337. Draws on household survey data from 87 rural villages in Bangladesh to examine the contribution that government family planning programs, as well as other health care interventions, have made toward the recent reduction in fertility by increasing contraceptive use and reducing infant mortality. The paper suggests that the programs have been effective and finds that targeted credit program placement, such as the Grameen Bank and the Bangladesh Rural Advancement Committee (BRAC), contributed to the effort as well.
