Major themes of the meeting included streaming video, analysis and assessment, demand-driven acquisition, the future of university presses, and open access publishing. While the Charleston meeting remains a core one for acquisitions librarians in dialog with publishers and vendors, the breadth of coverage of this volume reflects the fact that this conference is now one of the major venues for leaders in the publishing and library communities to shape strategy and prepare for the future. Almost 1,800 delegates attended the 2015 meeting, ranging from the staff of small public library systems to the CEOs of major corporations. This fully indexed, copyedited volume provides a rich source for the latest evidence-based research and lessons from practice in a range of information science fields. Edward F. Owens Papers
General description of the collection: The Edward F. Owens papers include a completed World War II Veterans Survey questionnaire as well as a photocopy of the speech given to the Third Army by General Patton. PFC Owens proudly writes that he was present for the speech. In response to the questions, Owens mentions wartime draft policies, what it was like to leave home and family, and his experience while serving with the 4th Armored Division in Europe. He also mentions foreign relations of American soldiers. He writes of getting pneumonia and being separated from his unit for four months, and of his thoughts of the enemy toward the end of the war. He also mentions liberating two concentration camps: North Stalag III and Buchenwald.
