Differential Rates, Residual Information Sets and Transactional Algebras
Both current theory and practice in financial markets are undergoing a strong pressure to include recently developed fields of inquiry, namely market microstructure, transaction costs and asymmetric information. This claim has been taking shape after nearly thirty years of worthy research and empirical development that laid sound groundwork to those promising subjects. The purpose of this book is to introduce a new approach to work out the returns from financial assets. Firstly, by means of the concept of differential rates, which allow the breaking down of the ordinary rate of return into components that are rates on their own. Secondly, residual information sets are built up to match each differential rate with its underlying information.
Design of an Indicator for Health and Safety Governance
Occupational Health and Safety Governance (OHSG) is a branch of Corporate Governance by which the board directs and controls labor risks created by their own enterprise. The OHSG concept is relatively new; unlike Occupational Health and Safety Management, which is mostly related to the work of managerial ranks, OHSG deals with principles, the interests of stakeholders, and the work of directors. A governance indicator for Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises (SMEs) is presented. The indicator adopts stakeholder theory in selecting its elements, which also include a few general governance principles as well as board features. The paper reviews main governance indicators treated in the literature, which are mostly applied to publicly traded firms. It then proposes a specific indicator for SMEs which, in general, are private.
