Infectious diseases are leading threats and are of highest risk to the human population globally. Over the last two years, we saw the transmission of Covid-19. Millions of people died or were forced to live with a disability. Mathematical models are effective tools that enable analysis of relevant information, simulate the related process and evaluate beneficial results. They can help to make rational decisions to lead toward a healthy society. Formulation of mathematical models for a pollution-free environment is also very important for society. To determine the system which can be modelled, we need to formulate the basic context of the model underlying some necessary assumptions. This describes our beliefs in terms of the mathematical language of how the world functions. This book addresses issues during the Covid phase and post-Covid phase. It analyzes transmission, impact of coinfections, and vaccination as a control or to decrease the intensity of infection. It also talks about the violence and unemployment problems occurring during the post-Covid period. This book will help societal stakeholders to resume normality slowly and steadily.

Public Health in the Context of Life-Limiting Illnesses: Patient-Centered Care in Advanced and Life-Limiting Illnesses

It is estimated that at least 60% of persons dying have a prolonged advanced illness. The need for palliative and end-of-life care will increase due to the rapidly aging world population and the increase of multiple long-term conditions. For these reasons, palliative care is an integral part of public health and public health strategies. Palliative care as holistic person-centered care and has played a critical role in the recent public health emergency of the COVID-19 pandemic. There is a close association between public health, health promotion, and palliative care, and this research topic will highlight this association. Through a series of multi-disciplinary articles, we will explore public health in the context of life-limiting illnesses contributing to shaping person-centered care, including palliative, end-of-life, and rehabilitation. This research topic will discuss advanced and life-limiting illness as a public health challenge and explore the role of palliative and end-of-life care including rehabilitation in shaping person-centered care.

Spa resorts were a favoured destination for affluent seekers after health and comfortable leisure in opulent surroundings from the seventeenth to the twentieth century, although in the railway age they began to suffer from competition from new fashions in leisure and tourism, especially the seaside holiday. During their heyday the leading spa resorts became hotbeds of political and diplomatic intrigue, and gathering-points for high society. As such, they also became important businesses, and distinctive, carefully-managed urban environments. ‘Taking the waters’ at a mineral springs resort fell into eclipse over much of the Western world in the mid-twentieth century, only to revive in mor...
