Many development agencies design and implement interventions that aim to reach, benefit, and empower rural women across the value chain in activities ranging from production, to processing, to marketing. Monitoring progress toward Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 5—achieving gender equality and empowering all women and girls—remains challenging unless we incorporate women’s empowerment metrics into nationally representative and multi-topic surveys. Expérience du Bénin dans la mise en œuvre des Ecoles d’Entrepreneuriat Agricole (EEA)
Le présent document est un article qui porte sur une approche de conseil en entrepreneuriat agricole développée en 2010 par la GIZ à travers le projet Sustainable Cocoa Business et mise en œuvre dans plusieurs pays en Afrique dont le Bénin. Cette approche est dénommée Ecole d’Entrepreneuriat Agricole (EEA), dite en anglais ‘’Farmer Business School (FBS)’’. Elle permet de renforcer les capacités des producteurs à développer leurs sens des affaires et à augmenter les rendements de leurs exploitations à travers une bonne gestion orientée vers la sécurité alimentaire et le marché. L’article présente l’approche EEA, la démarche de mise en œuvre et de son suivi selon l’expérience du Bénin et les résultats obtenus à la suite d’une première campagne agricole. Il présente également d’autres initiatives et approches de développement initiées au Bénin en complément du conseil sur l’entrepreneuriat agricole et met ainsi en évidence quelques approches pour valoriser le potentiel de l’agriculture familiale à assurer le développement rural et la sécurité alimentaire.

Untersucht wurden die migrationsgeprägten Erfahrungen und Aspirationen burkinischer Arbeitsmigrantinnen und -migranten, die ab dem Jahr 2002 infolge von Vertreibung aus ihrem Aufnahmeland (Côte d'Ivoire) in ihr Herkunftsland (Burkina Faso) zurückkehrten. Farming Systems and Poverty
Small farmers produce much of the developing world's food. Yet they are generally much poorer than the rest of the population in these countries, and are less food secure than even the urban poor. Furthermore, although the majority of the world's population will live in urban areas by 2030, farming populations will not be much smaller than they are today. For the foreseeable future, therefore, dealing with poverty and hunger in much of the world means confronting the problems that small farmers and their families face in their daily struggle for survival. Through an examination of a wide variety of farmimg systems across the developing world, this book, co-published with the World Bank, shows how the farming systems approach can be used to identify key local, regional and international priorities for the reduction of hunger and poverty.
