The letters are divided into chapters covering the different arenas where Chase served during the war, from Alexandria, the Peninsula Campaign, Maryland, Fredericksburg, and Chancellorsville to Gettysburg, Warrenton and Brandy Station, the Overland Campaign, the Shenandoah Valley - and, finally, to Petersburg.
