This book is a study of British society. It outlines the struggle for social change in Britain today, from a Socialist and Left-wing perspective. It considers the role of ideas in British politics, British history, and British society. It argues that, if Britain is to become a better society, it needs to develop better ideas—specifically, the ideas of Socialism.
A biography and collection of the artwork of Carey Morris, Welsh painter, illustrator, author, and businessman. He studied at the Forbes School of Painting (1902-7) and in 1909 began his studies at the Slade School of Art and later at the Newlyn School in Cornwall, where he took advantage of the Cornish landscape and light when creating his works. After serving in Flanders during the First World War, Morris had a studio in Chelsea, London. Although Morris concentrated primarily on portraits, he also worked as an illustrator for his wife's books and other authors. During the 1920s Morris was a director of the National Eisteddfod of Wales.
