This book presents over 100 papers from the 3rd Engineering & Product Design Education International Conference dedicated to the subject of exploring novel approaches in product design education. The theme of the book is "Crossing Design Boundaries" which reflects the editors’ wish to incorporate many of the disciplines associated with, and integral to, modern product design and development pursuits. Crossing Design Boundaries covers, for example, the conjunction of anthropology and design, the psychology of design products, the application of soft computing in wearable products, and the utilisation of new media and design and how these can be best exploited within the current product desi...

"Though use of plastic tubing for collecting maple sap has been hailed as the greatest advance ever made by the maple sugar industry, relatively few maple sugar producers are using tubing systems. To point the way toward greater and more efficient use of tubing systems, we summarize here the results and observations of our experiments with this method of sap collection. Certainly, if the efficiency of plastic tubing can be improved it will be more widely used, and the industry as a whole will benefit. In this report we have summarized the results and observations of tubing experiments conducted by the Northeastern Forest Experiment Station that suggest some ways in which this increased efficiency can be obtained. Divorce in the New Testament

Divorce in the New Testament

Few New Testament texts have had their meaning debated so vigorously as those in which Jesus discusses divorce: Matthew 5:32, Matthew 19:6, 9; Mark 10:9-12; Luke 16:18; and 1 Cor 7:11. From the early Church, through there formation, and into the present day, they have continued to rouse debate within the Churches and among believers. This work focuses on one aspect of that debate; namely, what Jesus has to say regarding divorce when his sayings are interpreted in their literary and historical context. To aid in this contextual understanding, the sayings are studied in the order in which they were written down in ancient times. Not every aspect of the debate therefore is addressed - nor could it be on an issue of such personal and pastoral complexity. Yet it is the challenge of biblical scholars to study the Word of God - in all its complexity - and to try to make that Word understandable. This work is offered to scholars and believers alike in the hope of adding to that understanding.

A study of the attempt by French politicians to use the law to forbid the use of words of English and American origin. Classifies some of these words and lists expressions in current use in America and England which are particularly difficult to render in French, comparing these with some equally untranslatable French turns of speech.

Life in Abundance

At his sudden death in August 1998, Raymond E. Brown, S.S., was acknowledged internationally as one of the greatest New Testament scholars. Writings on the Gospel and Letters of John spanned his whole career. In tribute to his life and work, St. Mary's Seminary and University, Baltimore, Maryland, hosted a conference in October 2003, "Life in Abundance." The conference did not focus directly on the work of Brown, but followed his lead in discussing the state of Johannine studies, the relation of John to first-century Judaism, and Johannine theology and issues of interpretation. This volume brings together presentations by scholars on these subjects.
