General anaesthesia is associated with higher mortality rate in comparison to regional anaesthesia. Spinal anaesthesia provides a fast ,intense, and balanced sensory and motor block of high value in patients undergoing lower abdominal and lower limb surgeries .spinal anaesthesia have fewer sides effects and risk than general anaesthesia .patients recover faster and can go home sooner. Hypotension during spinal anesthesia is the most common complication of spinal anesthesia. Hypotension is due to sympathetic nervous system blockade. Spinal induce hypotension can cause significant morbidity and mortality for both mother and fetus. Prevention rather than treatment is the aim of this book.

Hepatitis C virus (HCV) currently infects nearly 2% of the world's population. In Egypt the situation is very critical. Hepatitis C virus constitutes an epidemic in Egypt which is having the highest prevalence in the world. Nowhere else is there an HCV epidemic that affects a whole country. In all other countries, the prevalence of HCV is between 1% to 2%. There are a few exceptions where the prevalence of HCV is 3%.(31) In Egypt, EDHS report estimated a prevalence of 7% for the sampled population of 26047 aged 15-59 in 2015.( Just about every family in Egypt is touched by HCV. The blood borne virus, which is highly infectious, infects at least 1 in 10 of the population aged 15 to 59.

Diagnostic Techniques and Surgical Management of Brain Tumors

The focus of the book Diagnostic Techniques and Surgical Management of Brain Tumors is on describing the established and newly-arising techniques to diagnose central nervous system tumors, with a special focus on neuroimaging, followed by a discussion on the neurosurgical guidelines and techniques to manage and treat this disease. Each chapter in the Diagnostic Techniques and Surgical Management of Brain Tumors is authored by international experts with extensive experience in the areas covered.

Modern Anesthesia and Hepatitis C

The main goal of the anesthesiologist is to avoid making the hepatic disease (with perhaps its * metabolic and CNS toxicity) worse and increasing the chance of renal failure, coma, and death.* All anesthetics tested (general, narcotic-nitrous oxide, and regional) have caused transient effects on the liver.* abnormalities in liver function test results. These abnormalities were magnified by upper intra-abdominal surgery and occurred regardless of preexisting liver disease.* Patients whose preoperative liver function tests are abnormal will obviously have a higher effect on liver functions. The new inhalational anesthetics are safer on the liver when used with the modern mode of anesthesia as low flow anesthesia by which decreased the consumption , so decrease the bad effect on the liver .in this book there is the highlight on hepatitis c, modern inhalational anesthetics, and the low flow anesthesia.

Breast Lactation is a gift for both mother and infant; it is gradual separation after 9 months pregnancy. All international health organizations recommended breast lactation. Breast lactation is completely personal decision. The time spent during lactation allows direct contact between mothers and their infants, hearing her heart beats as in the uterine life .Mothers may expose for anesthesia during period of lactation, most of anesthetics and narcotics can affect breast lactation either direct or indirect way. Type of anesthesia during normal labor or cesarean section can affect the initiation of breast feeding. In this book I will discuss the relation between anesthesia, and breast lactation

Clinical Management and Evolving Novel Therapeutic Strategies for Patients with Brain Tumors

A dramatic increase in knowledge regarding the molecular biology of brain tumors has been established over the past few years, and this has lead to the development of novel therapeutic strategies for these patients. In this book a review of the options available for the clinical management of patients with these tumors are outlined. In addition advances in radiology both for pre-operative diagnostic purposes along with surgical planning are described. Furthermore a review of newer developments in chemotherapy along with the evolving field of photodynamic therapy both for intra-operative management and subsequent therapy is provided. A discussion of certain surgical management issues along with tumor induced epilepsy is included. Finally a discussion of the management of certain unique problems including brain metastases, brainstem glioma, central nervous system lymphoma along with issues involving patients with a brain tumor and pregnancy is provided.

Topics in Spinal Anaesthesia

Topics on Spinal Anaesthesia consists of eight important and updated chapters covering subarachnoid anaesthesia for major orthopaedic surgeries, ambulatory and short stay plastic surgical procedures, complications, and discussing the usefulness of opioids and non opioids drugs as spinal adjuvants to enhance subarachnoid block, transoperative analgesia and postoperative analgesia in various clinical scenarios. InTech invited respectable anesthesiologists from different countries to write this book. The authors and co-authors discussed in detail the advances in these subjects, so that the reader has an updated view and can use this knowledge on his/her patients. Tips For Emergency Cesareans Section In Severe Eclampsia and HELLP Syndrome Patient

Severe preeclampsia, and HELLP syndrome, are hypertensive pregnancy diseases that occur at 20 weeks of pregnancy. The main manifestations are hypertension, protenuria, and multiple organs dysfunction. It is one of most common causes of maternal and fetal deaths. HELL syndrome manifestations as elevated liver enzymes, thrombocytopenia, renal impairment .CNS manifestations as convulsions, brain edema, hemorrhages or brain injury., cardiovascular manifestations as heart failure, and pulmonary edema, High mortality in under developed countries is due to lack of anti natal care for early diagnosis, and management. Malnutrition, early age of marriage, or elderly marriage predisposes to increase mo...
