Sea Captain Pierpont Teasdale Morgan

“Sea Captain Pierpont Teasdale Morgan” is the first in a series of six books written by the author. These stories first came to his attention while researching his family genealogy. Captain Morgan was one of a number of Catholic sea captains cashiered by the Royal Navy of England, after the beheading of King Charles first, for refusing to renounce his faith. The Puritans pressed for all Catholics to be purged. This event came at an opportune time for John Greenwell, who needed sea captains to operate the new ships he had ordered to carry his tobacco to the markets in Europe from Maryland. Because he had served as captain of a fifty-two gun frigate, while serving in the Royal Navy, Captain Morgan easily moved into command as Captain of the “Bridgett of Rosedale”. A topsail, square rigged, tobacco-hauling ship, heavily armed to defend against the Pirates proliferating the seas in the late sixteen hundreds.

Grace of St. Mary's County

"Grace of St. Mary's County" reveals some little-known factual events and important occurrences in the lives of the English Catholics from County Durham, England. As the beheading of King Charles, I, approached, a number of parents sent their precious children to the land given them by the King, in Maryland, in order to protect them from the Protestants' vengeance against the Catholics. Purchasing two sailing ships, to transport them, they hired two captains with their crews. They then assigned two young priests, to accompany, and watch over the children in the New World. With long and arduous work, they established St. Mary's County, in Maryland. The ten-year-old son of the Duke of Stobilee, whose incredible intellect and sensitivity, led these fi fty-six children, in part, to help create the fi rst viable English speaking Catholic colony in North America.

Youth crime and youth violence blights our communities and shapes the lives of many, whether they are victims, perpetrators or family members. This book examines the application of psychological thinking and practice when working with young people who display high risk behaviours across a broad range of forensic mental health settings in the UK. It provides an up-to-date account of current thinking and practice in the field and the challenges of applying effective psychological approaches within forensic settings for young people. The contributors to Young People in Forensic Mental Health Settings are drawn from a range of environments including universities, youth offending services, secure in-patient settings, young offender institutions, Community Forensic Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (F-CAMHS), and secure children's homes. This volume serves as an important platform for debate and as a forum for discussing the future delivery of psychologically informed services, intervention and mental health provision with young people who display high-risk behaviours.
