In 1891, a member of the family, while tracing back his ancestry, had occasion to write a letter of enquiry to that very able lawyer and enthusiastic genealogist, Hon. Josiah Hayden Drummond of Portland, Me. Mr. Drummond, mistaking the import of the questions, answered far more than was asked, and began to accumulate and rapidly send facts about the early members of the Taunton branch.
