Herstellung und Charakterisierung von Nb- und Ta-Al₂O₃-Verbundwerkstoffen für Hochtemperaturanwendungen
Grobkörnige refraktäre Nb-/Ta-Al₂O₃-Verbundwerkstoffe mit mehrskaligem Aufbau sind ein neuartiger Lösungsansatz im Bereich der Hochtemperaturanwendungen. Als Grundlage für die Etablierung dieser Werkstoffe werden in dieser Arbeit mittels Field Assisted Sintering (FAST) hergestellte Verbundwerkstoffe untersucht, um den Einfluss der Materialzusammensetzung und der Partikelgrößenverteilung der Ausgangspulver auf die strukturellen, elektrischen und mechanischen Werkstoffeigenschaften zu analysieren. - Newly designed coarse-grained Nb-/Ta-Al₂O₃ refractory composite materials with multi-scale structure are potential candidates for high-temperature applications. As a basis, this work deals with the synthesis of composites using Field Assisted Sintering (FAST) to get a better understanding of both the influence of material composition and the particle size distribution of the starting powders on structural, electrical and mechanical properties.

Deep Learning based Vehicle Detection in Aerial Imagery
This book proposes a novel deep learning based detection method, focusing on vehicle detection in aerial imagery recorded in top view. The base detection framework is extended by two novel components to improve the detection accuracy by enhancing the contextual and semantical content of the employed feature representation. To reduce the inference time, a lightweight CNN architecture is proposed as base architecture and a novel module that restricts the search area is introduced.
Working-Class Politics in the German Revolution
Richard Müller, a leading figure of the German Revolution in 1918, is unknown today. As the operator and unionist who represented Berlin’s metalworkers, he was main organiser of the ‘Revolutionary Stewards’, a clandestine network that organised a series of mass strikes between 1916 and 1918. With strong support in the factories, the Revolutionary Stewards were the driving force of the Revolution. By telling Müller's story, this study gives a very different account of the revolutionary birth of the Weimar Republic. Using new archival sources and abandoning the traditional focus on the history of political parties, Ralf Hoffrogge zooms in on working class politics on the shop floor and its contribution to social change. A Political Biography of Arkadij Maslow, 1891-1941
This book is a political biography of Arkadij Maksimovich Maslow (1891-1941), a German Communist politician and later a dissident and opponent to Stalin. Together with his political and common-law marriage partner, Ruth Fischer, Maslow briefly led the Communist Party of Germany, the KPD, and brought about its submission to Moscow. Afterwards Fischer and Maslow were removed from the KPD leadership in the fall of 1925 and expelled from the party a year later. Henceforth they both lived as communist outsiders—persecuted by both Hitler and Stalin. Maslow escaped to Cuba via France and Portugal and was murdered under dubious circumstances in Havana in November 1941. He died as a communist dissident committed to the cause of a radical-socialist labor movement that lay in ruins. Kessler considers Maslow's role in pivotal events such as the Bolshevik Revolution, in Soviet revolutionary parties and organizations, through to the rise of Stalinism and Cold War anti-communism. What results is a deep dive into the life of a key yet understudied figure in dissident communism.
