Bei den Ausgrabungen der Humboldt-Universitat zu Berlin wurde in den sechziger Jahren ein grosserer Baukomplex freigelegt, der den Namen "Kleine Anlage" erhielt. Es handelt sich um den bisher einzigen nennenswerten Profanbau in Musawwarat es Sufra aus meroitischer Zeit, der wahrscheinlich im 3. Jahrhundert v. English summary: During the time of the New Kingdom (from around 1550 to 1075 BC), the region between Syene (Aswan) at the first cataract and Hagar el-Merwa (Kurgus) south of the fourth cataract known as Nubia constituted one of Egypt's main sources of income in terms of raw materials, animals and people. Despite fierce opposition, this area, which was inhabited by a population that was particularly African-influenced, was conquered by Egypt within a few decades.
