Beginning with volume 41 (1979), the University of Texas Press became the publisher of the Handbook of Latin American Studies, the most comprehensive annual bibliography in the field. Compiled by the Hispanic Division of the Library of Congress and annotated by a corps of more than 130 specialists in various disciplines, the Handbook alternates from year to year between social sciences and humanities. The Handbook annotates works on Mexico, Central America, the Caribbean and the Guianas, Spanish South America, and Brazil, as well as materials covering Latin America as a whole. Most of the subsections are preceded by introductory essays that serve as biannual evaluations of the literature and research under way in specialized areas. The Handbook of Latin American Studies is the oldest continuing reference work in the field. Lawrence Boudon became the editor in 2000. Aeronáutica Militar Argentina
Al independizarse la Fuerza Aérea Argentina del Ejército en 1945, quedaba atrás una etapa de treinta y tres años, iniciada en los campos de El Palomar por un grupo de entusiastas de la naciente aviación, allá por agosto de 1912. A partir de ese momento, la Aeronáutica Militar fue formándose y adquiriendo una importancia tal que llevó a su autonomía como fuerza armada. A esa etapa de evolución y consolidación nos referiremos en este trabajo.

Sarmiento and His Argentina
Domingo Faustino Sarmiento, president of Argentina from 1868 to 1874, is best known as an educator and as the author of Civilization and Barbarism: The Life of Juan Facundo Quiroga, generally referred to as El Facundo. The contributors to this volume call attention to other facets of Sarmiento's life and to the results of the programs he encouraged.
