Human and organizational factors have a substantial impact on the performance of planning and scheduling processes. As future generation information technology (FGIT) becomes specialized and fr- mented, it is easy to lose sight that many topics in FGIT have common threads and, because of this, advances in one discipline may be transmitted to others. Presentation of recent results obtained in different disciplines encourages this interchange for the advancement of FGIT as a whole. Technical and vocational education and training (TVET) research has become a recognized and well-defined area of interdisciplinary research. The COOP 2002 conference is mainly devoted to the following issues: the gap between 'virtual' and 'material' artifacts in human collaboration; collaboration among mobile actors; the WWW as a platform for cooperative systems and changing practices and organizations in the wake of the cooperative systems.
