Skin Diseases After Organ Transplantation
Organ transplantation has been successfully performed over the last 35 years and the number of organ allograft recipients is steadily increasing. Long-term immunosuppression, necessary for good graft function, inevitably induces undesired effects (particularly infectious and neoplastic ones) among which cutaneous ones are very frequent and potentially life-threatening. This book deals with all aspects of cutaneous disorders that may be encountered in the setting of organ transplantation. It reflects the pioneering work performed since long by Dermatologists in Lyon, in collaboration with teams specialised in kidney, heart, lung, liver and pancreas transplantation.

Dermatology in Five Continents
The World Congress of Dermatology (Congressus Mundi Dermatologiae, CMD) is held every 5 years. The purpose of this meeting is to review and summarize the present status of scientific knowledge in clinical dermatology and to in related basic research, to discuss recent results and ideas among colleagues and to contribute to the develop ment of new clinical and scientific research programmes for the future. It is evident that the Proceedings of such a meeting, where major dermatological work from five continents is presented, should be reviewed carefully and published as soon as possi ble. This volume includes the reports of several hundreds of speakers from all over the world as presented during the congress or delivered 6 weeks later. The moving forces behind all this were the International League of Dermatology (ILDS) with its presi dent, Jean Civatte, its general secretary, Nils Thyresson, the members of the Executive Committee (ICD) and the German Organizing Committee with its subcommittee for the scientific programme. In addition, the chairmen of sessions, coordinators, speakers and discussants all contributed to make the 17th CMD in Berlin a full suc cess.
Cancer in Transplantation: Prevention and Treatment
Malignancies are frequent complications in organ transplantation, mainly as the result of infection with certain viruses and of long-term immunosuppression. The epidemiology confirms that the increased incidence concerns certain cancers, especially HIV-related skin cancers and EBV-related lymphoproliferative malignancies. This book covers all currently available information on this important topic of the relationships between transplantation and malignancies: preexisting cancers, posttransplant cancers, their etiology and pathophysiology, their prevention and treatment. A significant part of the volume is devoted to prophylaxis, early detection and modern forms of therapy in posttransplant lymphomas. As a conclusion of all these new data, the theory of immunosurveillance deserves to be significantly modified.
